Is it true that RTI fee is only Rs 10 all over India ?

I have worked as Assistant Professor in one Engineering college. Under pune univeristy. I have asked to SPPU to provide me an appintment order which college used to submit to SPPU after teachers approval. SPPU pune has replied that my approval has happened in 2015 and they preserves the documents only for 3 years. Now they dont have it and they cant provide it. Can they reply in this way? Really there is limitation of no of years for preserving the docuemnts?

Yes, as per the RTI Act 2005, fees for filing RTI application is Rs. 1O/- and for people under poverty line need not pay any fees. The prescribed application fee is Rs. 10/- which can be paid through a Demand Draft or a Banker's Cheque or an Indian Postal Order payable to the Accounts Officer of the Public Authority. However, the Fees for RTI may be differ in certain Departments or States.
