Does The Act Provide For Partial Disclosure?

Yes, the RTI Act 2005 provide the provision of Partial Disclosure under section 10. The section states that when application is received by any PIO under section 6 (1) for information and access to the same cannot be made fully but only partial information can be provided, the PIO has to provide that part of information which can be accessed. Where a request for access to information is rejected on the ground that it is in relation to information which is exempt from disclosure, then, notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, access may be provided to that part of the record which does not contain any information which is exempt from disclosure under this Act and which can reasonably be severed from any part that contains exempt information. The applicant must be notified about only part of the requested, after severance of the record containing information which is exempt from disclosure, is being provided. The reason for only disclosing half information must be intimated to the applicant.
