Food Corporation of India (FCI) was established on 14 January 1965 having its first District Office at Thanjavur under the Food Corporations Act 1964. FCI is an organisation created and run by the Government of India and also run by state Governments. FCI is a "Public Authority" under Section 2 (h) of the RTI Act.
