  • RTI Experts

    Yes.

Section 3 of the RTI Act lays down that all citizens have the right to information and may make an application for the same.

Section 6 of the RTI Act lays down that a person can make a request for obtaining information under the RTI Act.

Even though there is no direct provision which entitles a group, companies, associations etc to file a RTI Application, a representative of any association/group/body can file an application by providing her/his complete particulars and obtain information under the RTI Act. Various court orders and CIC judgments have held that such associations/companies/bodies can obtain information under the RTI Act provided the application is made through a person/citizen designated as an authorized representative.
