Getting payslip of an state government employee via RTI

  • Hello all,

I have an ongoing case against my husband for getting monthly allowance. After battling rigorously for 2 years, court has only allowed me a monthly allowance of Rs 2000.

Now my lawyer says that to increase the amount I have to produce the salary slip of him.
He works in UPPCL (Uttar Pradesh Power Coporation, Shakti Bhawan)

Now, is it anyhow possible via RTI to get the payslip. Any help regarding this is highly appreciable.

    Thanks and regards

    Yes.
The concerned department is a government department and thus under the ambit of the RTI Act.

The Central Information Commission in its order in case titled RTI Foundation of India
Smt. G. K. Smitha v. Canara Bank in File No. CIC/SH/A/2014/003166 has held that the gross salary of a government employee is not personal information and has to be disclosed under the RTI Act. The full salary slip may not be disclosed as it contains some personal information but the gross salary is under the ambit of RTI Act.
