Odisha hospital RTI

  • I had an injury in my leg and went to hospital for treatment. Instead of complete treatment, the infection increased. Can I get to know the treatment and the medicines (with their uses) that the doctor gave me?

  • RTI Experts

    Depends.

If the said hospital is government hospital, then it is a public authority and the RTI Act is applicable to it.

You could file a RTI application to the public authority and under section 2(f) of the RTI Act, obtain all the medical records and reports including procedures adopted, diagnosis administered, daily medical updates and all other relevant details.

Even though private hospitals are not directly covered under the RTI Act, on account of various CIC judgments, you can obtain medical records of a patient from private hospitals and also through the medical council of India (MCI).
