RTI for call made to PCR on 100

  • Two weeks back I had to call PCR on 100. My details (address, mobile phone no, issue details) were taken by the officer and police arrived within 45 minutes. After issue was resolved, I requested police to give me some sort of proof that police did come to my home. But they did not provide me anything. Can I file an RTI to get the call details made on 100. I have the phone number (landline) from which I made the call. I would like to have details such as Name, address, time, and nature of the complaint made by the caller. Please guide on how to proceed on this.

  • RTI Experts

    Yes.

The police authority is a public authority and the RTI Act is applicable to it.

You could obtain status and details of the call as it forms part of the records maintained by the authority. Under section 2 (f) of the RTI Act, you could obtain certified copies of the relevant documents and records.
